How to Put a Lace Front Wig?

Hello everyone, it's Rachelle! Welcome back to my channel. In today's blog post, I'm going to walk you through the process of installing a lace front wig. This beginner's guide will help you install your wig like a pro with easy-to-follow steps. If you're eager to learn, keep on reading!

Step 1: Preparing Your Wig and Tools
The wig I'm using today is from UHAIR. I love their human hair wigs because they come pre-plucked and pre-bleached, which means I don't have to do much to make them look realistic. This particular wig is 22 inches long and 180% density, making it look full and natural.

Tools You'll Need:
Super thin wig cap
Bold Hold Liquid Gold or a similar non-glue adhesive
Small baby scissors
Foundation matching your skin tone
Zigzag scissors
Skin protector
Lace glue
Rat tail comb
Blow dryer (cool setting)
Hot comb (Andis brand recommended)
Hair wax
Tweezers
Small flat iron (Conair baby flat iron recommended)
Mousse
Hairspray
Curling iron and rollers (optional)

Step 2: Applying the Wig Cap
First, put on a super thin wig cap to protect your edges and give your wig a scalp-like appearance. I'm using the ball cap method for this. Apply Bold Hold Liquid Gold to secure the cap in place. You can also use a Got2B Freeze Spray or melting spray. Avoid using glue as it might pull out your edges.
Once the adhesive is dry, use your baby scissors to cut off any excess wig cap. Apply foundation that matches your skin tone all over the cap to blend it with your scalp.

Step 3: Cutting the Lace
Now, it's time to cut the lace on your wig. Use zigzag scissors for this step. Cutting the lace in a jagged motion rather than straight across will help it blend more naturally with your hairline. Try the wig on to see if any additional lace needs trimming.
If your zigzag scissors are difficult to use, consider getting a new pair from Amazon, where there are many options available.

Step 4: Gluing the Wig
Before applying glue, clean your forehead with a skin protector. Then, apply a thin layer of lace glue to your hairline. Use a rat tail comb and blow dryer on a cool setting to dry the glue until it becomes clear. Repeat with a second layer if necessary.
Once the glue is clear and tacky, pull the lace down and press it into place. The lace on this wig is very thin and blends well, although it was slightly darker than my skin tone. However, this can be adjusted with makeup and blending techniques.

Step 5: Styling Baby Hairs
This step is optional, but if you want baby hairs, now is the time to create them. Pull out small sections of hair at the hairline and trim them to your desired length. Use mousse and a small flat iron to shape them.
To melt the lace further into your skin, apply a Got2B Freeze Spray or a melting spray and blow dry it on a cool setting.

Step 6: Flattening the Wig
To make your wig sit naturally on your head, use a hot comb and hair wax to flatten it. Work in sections, pressing down to eliminate any bumps or raised areas.

Step 7: Tweezing the Hairline
Since I had to cut off a bit of lace, I needed to tweeze the hairline slightly to make it look more natural. Be gentle and take your time with this step to avoid over-plucking.

Step 8: Curling and Final Touches
I wanted voluminous curls for this look, so I used a curling iron and rollers. Unfortunately, this wig didn't hold curls very well, but it still looked full and voluminous. The chocolate brown color of the wig added a nice touch, giving me a break from my usual black hair.

Conclusion
And that's it! Installing a lace front wig can seem daunting at first, but with the right tools and techniques, you can achieve a natural and flawless look.
