How to Wash a Human Hair Wig Without Wig Shampoo?

In today's blog, I'll be showing you how to properly wash and care for your black curly wig, using a short curly fringe wig as an example. Caring for your wig is essential to maintain its quality and ensure it stays looking fabulous for as long as possible. So, let's dive into the process!

Step 1: Prepare Your Materials
Start by gathering your materials. You'll need a bowl of water, a deep conditioner, a Denman brush (or any brush or comb of your choice), and a leave-in conditioner.

Step 2: Dip and Detangle
Dip your wig into the bowl of water, making sure to hold it securely at the top to prevent tangling. Avoid using shampoo, especially for curly hair, as it can strip away moisture and cause the hair to become dry and tangled. Instead, focus on deep conditioning your wig at least once a week to keep it clean and hydrated.

Step 3: Apply Deep Conditioner
Once your curly human hair wig is wet, squeeze out excess water and apply a generous amount of deep conditioner. Ensure you distribute the conditioner evenly throughout the hair, focusing on the ends, which tend to be drier. Again, hold the wig securely at the top to prevent tangling while applying the conditioner.

Step 4: Detangle Gently
Using your Denman brush or comb, start detangling the hair from the bottom, working your way up gradually. This prevents knots from forming and makes the detangling process much smoother. Be gentle yet thorough to avoid damaging the hair.

Step 5: Allow Deep Conditioning
After detangling, place your wig back into a plastic bag to allow the deep conditioner to work its magic. Let it sit for at least an hour, or longer if possible. Overnight is ideal for maximum hydration, especially if you wear the kinky curly human hair wig frequently.

Step 6: Rinse and Apply Leave-In Conditioner
Once the deep conditioning time is up, rinse out the conditioner using cold water. Squeeze out excess water and then spray a leave-in conditioner onto the hair. Again, use your brush or comb to detangle the hair gently, working from the bottom up.

Step 7: Air Dry
Finally, hang your wig somewhere to air dry. Avoid using heat to dry wigs, as this can cause damage and frizz. Instead, allow it to air dry naturally, especially if you're not in a hurry.

And there you have it – a simple yet effective method for washing and caring for your long curly wig. By following these steps regularly, you can keep your wig looking beautiful and feeling soft and hydrated. So, give your wig the TLC it deserves, and enjoy rocking your fabulous curls with confidence!
